Annie is illustrative of those audacious woman who quietly alter history’s course by their attentions and stewardship of others abilities and talents. Annie understood the consequences of oppressed voice. Once Annie freed Helen’s voice through teaching her a communication system, they worked ceaselessly as social justice activist.
“Annie” inspires listener to forebear in efforts for justice, particularly in the realm of education. Helen said that the day she met Annie was the day of her souls birthday. This performance inspires and affirms how by acknowledging and affirming every ones voice the work is a more just and humane place.
