The National Women’s History Alliance (NWHA) is inviting banks and financial institutions across the country to participate in the 2027 national Women’s History Month theme:
“Financial Literacy, Liberation, and Leadership: Women in Business.“
The initiative will engage students, educators, financial professionals, and community leaders through a nationwide educational campaign featuring a print publication, digital resources, and social media engagement. The primary audience for the project is students in grades 6–12 and their teachers.
Three Educational Tracks
The 2027 campaign will feature three interconnected educational components:
Financial Literacy
Interactive lesson plans covering essential financial topics, including budgeting, saving, investing, credit awareness, fraud prevention, and understanding college debt.
Women’s History & Financial Empowerment
Educational features highlighting significant moments in the advancement of women’s financial independence, economic opportunity, and leadership in business and banking.
March of Icons (Leadership)
A month-long celebration recognizing 30 nationally significant women leaders in business and finance. March 8, International Women’s Day, will be reserved for schools and participating bank branches to honor a local woman whose contributions have strengthened her community through business, banking, entrepreneurship, or financial leadership.
Bank Participation Opportunities
Through a $500 contribution to the National Women’s History Alliance, participating bank branches will receive the following benefits:
- Magazine Recognition – The bank will be recognized as a donor in the national publication alongside its selected local icon. Bank partners will be confirmed by August 26 and names of each bank branch’s local icon honorees must be submitted by November 1, 2026 for inclusion in the February 2027 magazine release.
- Website Recognition – Participating banks, their selected honorees, and any local March 8 events or receptions will be featured on the NWHA website. A QR code in the magazine will direct readers to these online profiles.
- Community Distribution – Each participating bank branch will designate five local schools to receive 25 complimentary copies of the magazine. An additional package of 25 copies will be sent directly to the bank branch for community outreach and March 8 celebrations. In total, each participating branch will contribute 150 magazines throughout its community. (additional copies available for an extra fee).
- Social Media Participation – Banks will be invited to share a tribute to their local icon on March 8, 2027 (International Women’s Day) through their social media channels as part of a nationwide effort to celebrate more than 500 women in business and financial leadership. Any additional recognition of your icon – such as a small ceremony at your bank on Saturday, March 9 – is at that bank branch’s discretion and totally optional.
