Name

NWHA encourages everyone to discover the stories of the women in their own families and communities. Learning about the lives and achievements of our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers offers us deeper insight into our own experiences. Recognizing the dignity and contributions of women – both in our families and across different backgrounds – promotes greater self-esteem among girls and respect among boys and men.

The benefits of sharing women’s history are profound:

     – increased academic success for girls

     – reduced violence against women

     – stronger, more cooperative communities

Her stories are our stories, and a truly inclusive history acknowledges the invaluable role women have always played in shaping America.
