Congratulations to the National Park Service

At a time when books are being banned and the actual telling of our history is being challenged, the NWHA would like to congratulate the National Park Service for their excellent work in telling the complex multicultural stories of our American History.  It has been a long process with lots of research and feedback that they continue to use to expand the stories that their sites use to reflect authentic history.

One special example of their work is the follow-up sessions they provide to young people after they have visited Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument. Rangers provide a Junior Suffragist Activity Book. Complete the puzzles and other activities while exploring the museum exhibits. When you have finished, a ranger will talk with you about what you learned, administer the Junior Suffragist pledge, and present you with your Junior Suffragist badge!

Visit a National Park Site Monument this summer and have the opportunity to learn more about the American Experience.  https://maps.lib.utexas.edu/maps/national_parks.html
